Asia/Oceania Davis Cup Sri Lanka crash to second defeat

Sri Lanka crashed to their second successive defeat of the ongoing Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group three tennis tournament when they were beaten by Vietnam by two sets to one in a Pool ‘A’ match played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.
It was the same as in the first match with Vietnam taking an unbeatable lead by winning the two singles with Phung Van Nguyen and Ha Minh Duc Vu recording wins over Ashen Silva and Chathurya Nilaweera by the identical winning margin of two sets to nil before Sri Lanka’s doubles pair Dhilvan Herath and Thehan Wijemanne giving the supporters something to cheer when they came out winners in a hard fought match by two sets to one.


Meanwhile in another Pool ‘A’ match Iran overcome Saudi Arabia’s by two sets to one. In two Pool ‘B’ matches played Jordan defeat Malaysia by two sets to one and Pacific Oceania overcome Cambodia by three sets to nil.
The tournament will be continued today.
