Athletic Nationals put off due to COVID-19

Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) decided to postpone the second stage of the 99th National Athletics Championship, which was initially scheduled to be worked off today and tomorrow at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The Head of SLA Media, G.L.S. Perera said that the SLA Executive Committee decided to put off the nationals owing to the government decision to cancel all official functions in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first stage of the nationals was held on May 24 and the second stage was to be conducted in preparation for a series of international events scheduled for next year, including the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and the World Athletics Championships.
