BASL calls entries for Novices boxing meet

Entries are being called by the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) for the Men and Women Novices boxing tournament to be held from May 24 to 28 at Royal MAS Arena, Colombo 7.   

The closing date to receive entries by number is May 10 and final entry form should be submitted by May 15 to reach the BASL.   

Entry forms for men and women should be emailed to Hony Secretary of BASL [email protected] or by postal mail to No. 59/17, Byrde Place, Off Stratford Terrace, Colombo 6.   

The Sports Entry Check will be held on May 23 from 4.00pm to 6.00pm followed by the Official Draw at 6.30pm.   
 The Best Boxer (men) of the competition will receive the Danton Obeyesekere Challenge trophy.   

This competition is for fresher boxers who have not been winners of previous Novices or Intermediate boxing tournaments. Boxers who have taken part in major boxing tournaments such as the Layton Cup, Clifford Cup and National Championships are not eligible to take part in this tournament from this year. However, any boxer who has won or participated in any school boxing tournament is eligible to take part in this tournament.   

Women boxers are exempted from this rule. However, women boxers who have won the previous editions of Novices, Intermediate, Nationals, Clifford Cup and Layton Cup Boxing Tournaments are not eligible to take part in the Novices Boxing tournament.   

The age limit of Men and Women boxers will be between the age of 19 years and 40 years according to their year of birth (years of birth being 1983 to 2005).
