Balaharuwa emerge Ratnapura District champion

The Ratnapura District Six-Balls Snooker Tournament was concluded at the Ratnapura Billiards Club Table where 18 cueists were in action to battle it out for the two slots to qualify for the All-Island Tournament. 

This was the first-ever cue tournament to be conducted in the District in the history of cue sports due to the efforts and dedication put in by Kumara Lanerolle - incumbent Secretary of the Billiards and Snooker Association.

The contest was closely fought out where S. D. Balaharuwa of the Ratnapura Billiards Club came out victorious when he defeated his club mate B. M. Fahmi by three frames to one in the final.

In the semi-finals, Balaharuwa defeated M. S. M. Wasil by three frames to one and Fahmi scraped through with a three frames to two win over H. W. P. Randika and all these cueists were from Ratnapura BC.

Meanwhile, the Kegalle and Kandy District Tournaments will be played on July 14 and 15 and the Colombo District Tournament is scheduled to be held from July 23.

Results: 

(Semi-finals): B. M. Fahmi (Ratnapura BC) beat H. W. P. Randika (Ratnapura BC) 33-22, 10-30, 32-24, 14-56, 32-25). S. D. Balaharuwa (Ratnapura BC) beat M. C. M. Wasil (Ratnapura BC) 28-24, 41-28, 15-23, 31-26. 


(Final): S. D. Balaharuwa (Ratnapura BC) beat B. M. Fahmi (Ratnapura BC) 50-10, 1-35, 51-15, 37-15.
