Bangladesh’s tour to Sri Lanka, scheduled for next month, has been postponed to next year.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had been unable to reach a compromise on the period that the visiting Bangladesh team would need to be in isolation, with Health Ministry officials insisting that a 14-day quarantine was mandatory.
BCB have maintained that 14 days of isolation without any training would not be feasible ahead of a Test series.
This would mean that Sri Lanka will not host any international cricket for the rest of the year, having already postponed series against England, South Africa and India.
Bangladesh were scheduled to play three Test matches.
The message to the Sri Lankan players' was conveyed in the WhatsApp group.
Confirming the news from Dhaka, a BCB official said, "Yes, the tour has been postponed and the new dates will be finalized at a later date."
"The training of the players will continue", he further added.
Bangladesh Cricket Board was hoping to send the team to Sri Lanka between October 8-10 but the plans have been put on hold till the new dates are announced.
