A quick-fire 28-ball knock of 51, inclusive of 11 boundaries, by Shehan Wickramasinghe helped Sri Devananda MV Ambalangoda record a comfortable three-wicket win over traditional rivals Dharmasoka MV Ambalangoda in their annual Battle of the Blues limited over encounter played at the UC ground at Ambalangoda yesterday.
The match was curtailed due to bad weather in the morning session of play with Dharmasoka MV, taking first lease of the wicket, making 101 for 4 having faced 23.3 overs when play was stopped.
The match resumed with Sri Devananda MV chasing 102 runs for victory, which they achieved thanks to Wickramasinghe’s knock, in the 17th over. The win meant Sri Devananda MV completed a double over their rivals, having earlier won the two-day match, also by three wickets.
