Billie Jean King Cup Asia-Oceania Group 2 Tennis Sri Lanka record second successive win

Sri Lanka recorded their second successive win in the ongoing Billie Jean King Cup by BNP Paribas Asia-Oceania Group 2 women’s tennis tournament when they coasted to a comfortable 3-0 win against Guam in the second round match of Pool ‘A’ played at the Central Stadium in Dushanbe, Tajikistan yesterday.   


Sri Lanka won the tie with ease with national champion Anjalika Kurera who came out for the first time and Rukshika Wijesooriya coming out victorious in the singles matches before Wijesooriya partnered by Janali Manamperi won the doubles event which sealed the tie for Sri Lanka.   


Sri Lanka will now meet Uzbekistan, who also have won their two matches against Guam and Brunei, to battle it out for top position and the winner will meet Mongolia who came out as the top team in Pool ‘B’ comprising of Pakistan, Turkenistan and host Tajikistan

Janali Manamperi/Rukshika Wijesooriya (Sri Lanka) beat Fremont Gibson/Sydney Packbier (Guam) 2-0 (6/1, 6/0)
Uzbekistan beat Brunei 3-0

Singles:

Maftunabonu Kahramonova (Uzbekistan) beat Ming Rui Chong (Brunei) 2-0 (6/1, 6/2),  Ominahon Valihanova (Uzbekistan) beat Jia Hu Tan (Brunei) 2-0 (6/1, 6/0)

Doubles:

Nasiba Espolova/Aliya Nusabekova (Uzbekistan) beat Ming Rui Chong/ Jia Hu Tan (Brunei) 2-0 (6/1, 6/2)
