Jasprit Bumrah recorded the highest-ever rating points tally achieved by an Indian bowler overtaking R Ashwin’s record in the latest ICC Men’s Test bowling rankings.
After yet another impressive outing during the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground where Bumrah picked nine wickets across innings, the pacer touched 907 ranking points. Ashwin’s highest rating was 904, achieved in December 2016.
At the start of the Boxing Day Test, the current world no. 1 Test bowler was joint with Ashwin at 904 points that he equaled in Brisbane.
The 907 ranking points also placed Bumrah as joint-17th in the all-time list with Derek Underwood of England. England seamer Sydney Barnes leads the list with 932 points.
Australia skipper Pat Cummins earned 15 rating points following his six wickets at MCG to jump a place to No. 3.
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 82-run first-innings knock in the Boxing Day Test saw him jump a spot to a career-best fourth with 854 rating points.
