Former Sri Lankan fast bowler Chaminda Vaas has sought clearance to play in the Legends League Tournament, it is learnt.

Vaas is among the few Sri Lankans named in the Asia Lions team.

Incidentally, the tournament which is scheduled to be played at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Oman will clash with the upcoming series between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

Vaas, who will be 48 later this month, could be one of the support-staff members for the home team.
Jayasuriya, Romesh Kaluwitharana and TM Dilshan (now in Australia) are the others included in the squad.
Kaluwitharana is also a national selector and it is not known whether he would be available for the Legends League.

Jayasuriya, speaking to this reporter, has confirmed his participation.

Legends League tournament is a professional cricket league for retired cricketers and will be played between three star-studded teams. The other two teams would be representing players from India and the Rest of the World.
Legend of Legends and global icon Amitabh Bachchan is the league ambassador, whereas former India head coach Ravi Shastri is the commissioner of the tournament.
