Chathumal, Purnima Best Players at DSI VB

Kavishka Chathumal of St. Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa and Chathuri Purnima of Tissapura MV Ampara won the Best Player Award in the Boys’ and Girls’ Tournaments respectively at the 2022 DSI Supersports Schools Volleyball Championships, held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.   

Over 5,000 schools participated in this tournament, which was conducted by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVB) and the Sri Lanka Schools Volleyball Association (SLSVA).   

Chathumal and Purnima were selected as the Best Players of the Tournament after having considered their performances in the Under-19 Championship.   

St. Joseph Vaz and Tissapura MV won the Boys’ and Girls’ Under-19 Championship respectively.   
St. Joseph Vaz defeated Divisamara MV, Seeduwa in the Boys’ Tournament final and Tissapura MMV had the better of Gankanda MMV, Pelmadulla in the Girls’ Tournament final.   

Meanwhile, Loyola College, Negombo and Vijayaba National School, Hungama clinched the Boys’ and Girls’ titles respectively in the Under-17 Championship.   

Loyola College beat Pannala National School in the Boys’ Under-17 final while Vijayaba National School defeated Tissapura MV in the Girls’ Under-17 final.
