Commander’s Cup Golf Tourney from January 22

Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) and the Eagles’ Golf Links will host the Commander’s Cup 2022, the annual golf tournament for men and women from January 22 to 23 at the China Bay in Trincomalee.


The Championship is organised by SLAF for the ninth occasion under the guidance of the Commander of SLAF Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana.


This golf tournament has attracted over 100 local and foreign golfers and enthusiasts of the game.


In addition to the Commander’s Cup, the golfers will also vie for the Eagles’ Challenge Trophy which is awarded to the best serving player from the Tri Forces in Men’s and Women’s categories respectively.


“This year the Commander’s Cup is once again powered by Dialog Enterprise as the enterprise connectivity partner. The Commander’s Cup brings together top ranked players from Sri Lanka’s golfing fraternity and provides players from the Tri-Forces a unique opportunity to hone their skills at a unique golfing location,” Group Chief Officer of Dialog Enterprise, Navin Peiris said during a media briefing in Colombo yesterday.  


Meanwhile, Commander of SLAF, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana said that they have lined-up a series of sports events to be conducted this year. Following the golf tournament, SLAF will also organise rugby, squash, beach volleyball and cycling events culminating with the colours awards ceremony.


SLAF sportsmen and women will also participate in several events connected to the World Military Games.
