The Colombo District Court on Tuesday (21) issued an order in favour of Football Sri Lanka (FSL), refusing to issue interim injunctions against the football administration body.

These two cases had been filed against FSL by MHM Afla, President of the Government Services Sports Association and Senaweera Arachchilage Sunil Senaweera, President of the Gampola Football League.
The Plaintiffs filed two cases, naming FSL President Jaswar Umar and FSL Secretary Upali Hewage as defendants and sought interim reliefs preventing the holding of an EGM to adopt the proposed new Constitution of the FSL.
Following the granting of the Enjoining Order, FSL strongly opposed the Interim Injunction and the Order was delivered by the Colombo District Court.

FSL took up the position that the proposed Constitution aims to bring the present Constitution of FSL in line with FIFA International Standards and best practices and further maintained that the process has been followed in respect of the holding of the EGM.

Senior Counsel Eraj de Silva appeared with Counsel Daminda Wijayaratne and Zul Luthufi instructed by Dimuthu Kuruppuarachchi appeared for FSL. The President of the Government Services Sports Association was represented by Senior Counsel Kaushalya Nawaratne while Counsel Saman Liyanage appeared for the President of the Gampola Football League.
