DSI Supersport Schools Volleyball Championship District level tournament to start on March 26

The Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVB) will conduct the D Samson & Sons Pvt Ltd sponsored 20th DSI Supersport Schools Age Group Volleyball Championship around the island starting at district level from March 26. 

The DSI Supersports Volleyball tournament is being organised after two years with the 2021 tournament not being held due to Covid-19.

Organised by the Ministry of Education and Sri Lanka Schools Volleyball Association, the tournament will be conducted in five age groups – Under-11, -13, -15, -17 and -19 for both girls and boys, SLVB president Kanchana Jayaratne said at a press conference held at Hotel Nippon yesterday.

The SLVB expects about 5,000 school children to participate in this tournament with entries to be accepted from February 15 to March 15.

“We are proud to sponsor this tournament for the last 20 years. It has become one of the most popular tournaments since it began in 1998 with the participation of 198 schools,” said Thusitha Rajapakse, Managing Director of D Samson & Sons.

This tournament has produced several players who have excelled at national and international level.

The district level competition will be held from March 26 to May 08, national level from June 15 to June 21 at the Galle Volleyball House Indoor Stadium and the finals on July 2 and 3 at the NYSC in Maharagama.
