Darshana to run in Olympic 400m semis

Sri Lanka’s Aruna Darshana will participate in the Men’s 400m semi-finals of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in France today.   

In the Men’s 400m first-round heat No. 5 Dharshana returned a personal best time of 44.99s and finished in third place on Sunday.  

Kirani James of Grenada won heat No. 5 with a time of 44.78s while Chritopher Williams of Canada won second place with a time of 44.96s.  

This is also the best time recorded by a Sri Lankan 400m runner in 26 years after Sugath Thilakarathna clocked 44.61s at the 1998 Asian Athletic Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
