Defence Services HA women win Hockey Nationals

Defence Service Hockey Association women’s team won the 24th National Hockey Women’s Championship 2023 held at Albert F. Peiris Stadium, Wennappuwa.  
Nine District Association teams participated in this tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Hockey Federation after a few years and in the final match between Defence Service HA defeated Wennappuwa HA 3-0.  

The third place in the tournament was won by Colombo District HA team and forth place Combined University HA team.  
Sadani Perera (Defence Service HA) was adjudged the best player of the tournament and Imesha Anuradhindee (Combined University HA) was picked as the best goalkeeper.  
In the semifinals, Defence Service HA beat Colombo District HA (5 - 0) and Wennappuwa HA beat Combined University HA (4 - 0).  
Matale, Galle, Matara, Jaffna, Rathnapura, Mercantile and Nationalised Services teams did not participate in this tournament.
