Two matches of the Dialog Schools Rugby League tournament will be played today, with 2019 Champions Royal College taking on St. Anthony’s College Kandy at the Royal Sports Complex and Isipathana College taking on Science College at Havelock Park.
Both games kick off at 4:15 pm.
In the pick of the two fixtures, Royal College will start as favorites against St. Anthony’s College Kandy, seeking to add to the three consecutive league titles they won between 2017 and 2019, under the guidance of Dushanth Lewke and led by full back Harshith Peiris.
The Antonians will be led by burly No 8 Jeyan Amarasinghe, and are a team with the knack of pulling off surprise wins.
Meanwhile, Isipathana College will hope to get their title challenge off to a positive start against Science College at Havelock Park.
Led by forward Nithina Wickramaarachchi, Isipathana will hope to regain the league title they last won in 2016.
Science College, who have a history of being difficult opponents, will be captained by Hansaka Lakshan manning the pivoted No 8 position.
