St. Peter’s College and Science College come out for the last time in the ongoing Dialog Schools Rugby league tournament when they lock horns at Science ground Mt Lavinia today.
St. Peter’s led by centre Sudesh Jayawickrama cannot be satisfied with his team’s performance as they came into the tournament with much hope.
They began the tournament on a winning note with a win against Dharmaraja College but fell back as they underwent back to back defeats, first losing 11-08 to Vidyartha and were then beaten by Isipathana College (29-17) before featuring in a 17-all draw against Wesley.
Science led by No 8 Hansaka Lakshan also came into the tournament with hope but underwent three defeats to Isipathana, Wesley and Vidyartha.
The match is of academic interest as the two teams will have two different missions - St. Peter’s looking to end the league on a winning note and Science College aiming to chalk up their first win of the tournament. But the scale is in favour of St. Peter’s.
