Sri Lanka’s Dinara de Silva advanced to the Girls’ Singles quarter-final of the ITF World Junior J60 Tennis Tournament when she recorded a hard fought 2-1 win over Sama Jayesh of Singapore in the second-round match played at the SLTA Courts in Green Path, Colombo yesterday.

Although bad weather hampered proceedings on day three the organisers managed to conduct six more second-round matches with Stern Aludo of the Philippines, Su Been Lee of South Korea, Phorthum Sriwaong of Thailand, Priyanka Rana of the USA, Tenelle Madis of the Philippines, Prisha Shinde of India and Yasmin Vavrova of Slovakia winning their respective matches to book their berths to the quarter-finals.

However, Sandithi Usgodaarachchi and Gehansa Methnadi bowed out of contention and in the Boys’ category Lithum Jayabandu came out on top in the first-round match with a 2-1 win against Pujith Sukaji of Thailand.
