An unbeaten knock of 90 by Rashmika Perera for Mahanama Colombo was in vain as it could not prevent from defending joint champions Trinity securing a first innings win in the semi final encounter of the Under 19 inter-school Division One Tier ‘A’ cricket tournament concluded at St. Peter’s grounds in Bambalapitiya to book the berth to the final.
The architect of the win was Trinity’s left arm spinner and Sri Lanka youth player Dinuka Tennekoon who grabbed the last five Mahanama wickets to fall despite the resistance put up by Rashmika Perera. Mahanama in reply to Trinity’s 228 runs resuming from their overnight of 22 for 1 was able to muster a score of only 194 runs.
The two teams agreed to call off the match after the completion of Mahanama’s innings. Trinity will now meet Richmond in the final scheduled to be played next week.
