Dulangi to lead Sri Lanka at Asian Netball Tourney

The Netball Federation of Sri Lanka (NFSL) has appointed veteran player Dulangi Wannithilake as the Captain of the Sri Lanka National Netball Squad.
Dulangi will lead the Sri Lanka Netball Team at the 13th Asian Senior Netball Championship from September 27 to October 6 in Saudi Arabia) and will also oversee the 18-member National Netball Pool.
Dulangi had previously Captained the Sri Lanka Netball Team at the 2023 Singapore Nations Cup Netball Tournament and was the Vice-Captain of the Sri Lanka Netball Team, which won the 2022 Asian Senior Netball Championship.
The former schoolgirl of Holy Family Convent, Kurunegala also played a major role in spearheading the Hatton National Bank Team to victory at the Dialog Senior Netball Nationals held in Wennappuwa. 
Meanwhile, the National Netball Pool will be pruned down to 15 members after the second selection trials in April and the final touring 12-member squad will be announced  before May 30. 


The Sri Lanka Netball Team is also set to tour Australia for a short period for training ahead of the Asian Netball Championships, NFSL sources revealed yesterday.   
NFSL President Lakshmi Victoria and National Coach P. D. N. Prasadi met the Sports Minister Harin Fernando and the State Minister of Sports Rohana Dissanayake and had discussed about Sri Lanka’s tour to Australia.       
The Sports Ministry is hoping to contact the Australian netball authorities shortly about Sri the Lanka Netball Team’s tour to that country.
