Dunukara and Gayani Win Race-Walking Championships

Veteran athletes Sandaruwan Dunukara from the North Western Province (NWP) and P.B. Gayani from the Southern Province (SP) clinched the men’s and women’s titles, respectively, at the 48th National Sports Games Race Walking Championships held in Mahiyanganaya yesterday.

The 22-kilometre race walking events were conducted by the Sports Development Department of the Ministry of Sports and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Limited.

Dunukara won the men’s event with a time of 1:37:40s, while Gayani won the women’s event with a time of 1:47:35s.

Meanwhile, the North Central Province (NCP) and the Southern Province (SP) clinched the men’s and women’s overall team championships at the meet.
