Eight-member athletics team for Asian Youth Meet

Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) will field an eight-member team for the 4th Asian Youth Under-18 Athletic Championship, which will be held from October 13 to 16 in Kuwait City, Kuwait.   


 The eight-member Sri Lankan Youth Athletics Team was selected following the conclusion of the 90th Sir John Tarbat Inter-Schools Senior Athletics Meet held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Complex in Diyagama.   
The Sri Lanka Youth Athletics Team for this meet will include five Boys’ and three Girls’, SLA sources revealed yesterday.   


Palitha Jayathilaka will accompany the Sri Lanka Youth Athletics Team as Manager while the team coach and the lady chaperon will be announced shortly.   


 SLA sources further revealed that considering the recent performances of these athletes, Sri Lanka should be able to win three or four medals at this event.   


 Sri Lanka have bagged a total of nine medals in the history of youth athletics, including one gold, six silver and two bronze medals.
