A total of 11 veteran coaches have applied for the post of national coach of the Sri Lanka Table Tennis Team, sources from the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (TTASL) revealed yesterday.

The TTASL is planning to appoint a permanent coach for the national team from 2021 after a lapse of many years while changing their earlier decision to name different coaches for each international event.  This decision has been taken by the TTASL in accordance with the High-Performance Programme, set up by the Ministry of Sports under the direction of the National Sports Council (NSC).

Secretary TTASL Reza Lathiff said that their main target will be to win a medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England and interviews for the contenders will be held via zoom in due course.

The Interview Board will be headed by Director National Institute of Sports Science Sajith Jayalal and they have already informed the contenders the criteria of selection.
