Colombo District Judge Aruna Aluthge issued an enjoining order on June 23 preventing the holding of the election of the Sri Lanka Carom Federation which was scheduled to be held at the Ministry of Sports on Monday (28).
This enjoining order was issued by the District Judge having considered a case filed by affiliates of the Sri Lanka Carom Federation.

Former officials of the Sri Lanka Carom Federation and many other affiliates have lodged several complaints to Namal Rajapaksa, Minister of Sports, Secretary of Sports, Director General of Sports and Election Committee, against holding the Carom Election on Monday (28) of this month on the issue of granting voting rights to 21 sports clubs that have lost their membership of the Sri Lanka Carom Federation. But responding parties has ignored these complaints and objections.

The Sri Lanka Carom Federation has taken steps by appointing an election committee for the election, called for nominations and fixed a date to hold the election on October 5 last year, but had to postpone it due to the Coronavirus pandemic in the country, Carom source said.
