Expo Lanka Youth Football Cup to start on Jan. 8

The second Under 19 Expo Lanka Youth Cup 2022 Football Tournament conducted by the Colombo City Football League and sponsored by Expo Lanka Group will be held from January 8 to March 12 at the City League Grounds in Colombo.  

The champions of this tournament will receive a cash award of Rs 100,000 and the runners-up will receive Rs 75,000 while special cash awards will be presented to the most valuable player, best goal keeper of the tournament and man of the final.  

A total of 18 teams have entered the tournament, President City Football League R. Puvanandiran said yesterday.  
The first-round of the tournament will be conducted on a league basis and the final round will be conducted on a knock-out basis.  

The final of the tournament will be held on March 12 at 3:00 p.m.  

Java Lane SC is the defending champions while Cooray SC emerged runners-up in the previous tournament.  
Young Silver SC will meet Saunders SC in the opening match of the tournament on January 8 at 4:00 p.m. The sponsors Expo Lanka will be funding a sum of Rs 500,000 for this tournament.  

The teams:

Group ‘A’: Silver SC, Saunders SC, Maligawatta Youth SC, Cooray SC and Victory FC   
Group ‘B’: Java Lane SC, Vikings SC, Colombo FC, Slave Island XI SC and Ferguson Youth SC   
Group ‘C’: Rudra SC, Colombo Veterans SC, Renown SC and United SC   
Group ‘D’: Badduwita United SC, Moragasmulla SC, Colpetty United SC and Black Square SC
