Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) yesterday announced the appointment of a five-member panel to inquire into the alleged misconduct of three players during Sri Lanka’s tour of England last month.

A day before the first ODI between Sri Lanka and England began in Durham, the team’s Vice Captain Kusal Mendis, Niroshan Dickwella and Danushka Gunathilaka were seen on video posted on social media outside the designated area of the bio-secure bubble.

The inquiry panel consists of Justice Nimal Dissanayaka (Retd Judge of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka), Attorney’s-at-Law Panduka Keerthinanda, Asela Rekawa, Uchitha Wickremasinghe and Major General (Retd) M.R.W. De Zoysa.

The three players have been suspended, from all forms of cricket, until the completion of the inquiry.
The players are said to be facing a minimum one-year suspension.
