The Sri Lanka Wrestling Federation (SLWF) will soon have the services of a foreign coach following the intervention of Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe.

This is following a request from the President of the SLWF Sarath Hewavitharana in order to improve the standard among the local wrestlers.

The SLWF will have the services of a Level-2 coach, fully sponsored by the Sports Ministry and he will work with the local competitors to raise the standard of the game.

There are over 50 wrestling clubs and more than 80 wrestling coaches, who are registered with the SLWF.
Sports Minister Ranasinghe made these observations during a recent discussion between the Birmingham Commonwealth Games Bronze Medallist Nethmi Ahinsa, her coach Suranga Kumara and other officials of the SLWF.

The Minister appreciated the outstanding efforts of wrestler Ahinsa at the recent Commonwealth Games and urged the authorities to provide her with all necessities required to win a medal at the 2024 Olympic Games.
