A former Sri Lankan domestic cricketer Saliya Saman has been charged with attempting to fix matches during the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 League, by the International Cricket Council (ICC) under its Anti-Corruption Code of Conduct.
Saman was among eight individuals who were charged with corruption by the ICC on behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board.
He has been charged under three counts -- Article 2.1.1 – Being party to an attempt to fix, contrive or influence improperly matches or aspects of matches in the Abu Dhabi T10 2021, Article 2.1.3 – Offering a Reward to another Participant in exchange for that player engaging in Corrupt Conduct under the Code and Article 2.1.4 – Directly or indirectly soliciting, inducing, enticing, instructing, persuading, encouraging or intentionally facilitating any Participant to breach Code Article 2.1.
He has been provisionally suspended and given 14 days from September 19 to respond to the charges.
The other individuals who were charged are Krishan Kumar Chaudhary and Parag Sanghvi, both co-owners of a team, Ashar Zaidi, Rizwan Javed, Sunny Dhillon, Shadab Ahamed and Nasir Hossain, the former Bangladesh cricketer.
