Former weightlifting champion Bandara elected new President of SLWF

Four-time national weightlifting champion Asoka Bandara has been elected President of the Sri Lanka Weightlifting Federation (SLWF).  


The SLWF elections was held via zoom technology at Racecourse stadium with Bandara getting 51 votes while his challenger H.A. Priyantha failing to get a single vote.  


Bandara won a silver medal at the South Asian Games. 

 
Former President Nalaka Hewamaddum did not contest this time after having served four years in office.  
Meanwhile, G. Nishanthan was re-elected Secretary uncontested. The five Vice Presidents elected from nine contenders were K.A. Kumaradasa, A.K.U.P.S. Kumara, W.A. Nimal, H.Y.S. Rupasena and R.K.C. Silva.  
The Assistant Secretary is Chaminda Ratnayake while S.D.N. Anuruddha was elected treasurer.
