Four Central footballers slapped with suspensions, ban

The Disciplinary Committee of Football Sri Lanka (FSL) has suspended/banned four players from Central who took part in the Independence Trophy Ceylon Provincial League 2022 Football Tournament.


This followed an incident which took place on February 2 in the match between Central and Uva at Leelaratne Stadium in Kantalai.


The Central players have been slapped suspensions and a ban for hitting Uva players, FSL president Jaswar Umar told the Daily Mirror.


Central’s W.H.G.I Deshapriya, S.K. Umair and M.H.H. Mohamed have been handed two-match suspensions while their team mate Janith Rathnayake has been banned for the remainder of the tournament.


Further, they will be underdoing a probationary period of one year during which if any player is involved in any type of wrongdoing in football, he shall be suspended for another one year.
