Four Sri Lankans won their respective matches to advance to round two of the second ITF World Junior J60 Tennis Tournament, which got underway at the SLTA Courts in Green Path, Colombo yesterday.

In the Girls’ category Gehansa Methnadi succeeded with a hard-fought two 2-1 win over Saanvi Reddy of India while Dinara de Silva coasted to an easy 2-0 win over Victoria Luo of Poland.

In the Boys’ category Methwan Wijemanne went through some anxious moments before pulling of a 2-1 win over Sri Saj Satyaram of India and Ganuka Fernando recorded a comfortable 2-0 win over Tihg Ho Vang of Chinese Taipei.

The tournament will be continued today.

Girls’ Singles (first round): Gehansa Methnadi (Sri Lanka) beat Saanvi Reddy (India) 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. Dinara de Silva (Sri Lanka) beat Victoria Luo (Poland) 6-2, 6-4.

Boys’ Singles (first round): Methwan Wijemanne (Sri Lanka) beat Sri Saj Satyaram (India) 7-4, 4-6, 6-3. Ganuka Fernando (Sri Lanka) beat Tihg Ho Vang (Chinese Taipei) 6-4, 6-3.
