Galle have put themselves in a strong position of recording their fourth outright win of the National Super League (NSL) four-day Cricket Tournament when play ended on day four of their match against Colombo played at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium yesterday.
The third day’s proceedings saw Galle, resuming from their overnight score of 361 for five, losing their remaining five wickets cheaply and were bowled out for 394.
The overnight batsman Oshada Fernando, who was unbeaten on 200, was able to add only a further two runs.
Colombo batting the second time were bowled out for 251 runs and Galle, left with a target of 154 runs for victory, ended the day on nine for no loss.
Meanwhile Dambulla have already taken a first inning lead over Jaffna in another NSL match played at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy.
Jaffna, in reply to Dambulla’s score of 392 were bundled out for 169 with Isitha Wijesundara doing the damage. Dambulla batting the second time ended the day on 216 for seven for an overall lead of 439 runs.
