Gateway’s Hiruki to swim at World Junior Swimming C’ship, CYG

Young swimming sensation Hiruki De Silva of Gateway College Colombo was crowned Senior National Girls Champion at the Junior and Senior National Swimming Championship 2023.  

 Hiruki outclassed her other competitors by being placed first in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle and 200m individual medley.   

She was placed first in the same events at the Age Group Swimming Championship 2023 to be crowned the Under 20 Girls Champion.   

Her performances locally gave her the opportunity to be selected to represent Sri Lanka as a higher FINA points athlete at the Commonwealth Youth Games which is currently being held in Trinidad and Tobago. She is due to fly to Israel shortly to represent Sri Lanka at the World Junior Swimming Championship.
