Ginige, Madurangi to lead SL at Asian TT Tourney

Chameera Ginige and Ishara Madurangi will lead the Sri Lankan Men’s and Women’s Team for the 25th Asian Table Tennis Championship from September 28 to October 5 in Doha, Qatar.


The Sri Lanka Table Tennis Team comprising five Men and four Women will leave for Qatar on Saturday.
In 2019, the Sri Lanka Men’s Team placed 23rd while the Women’s Team finished in 15th place, which involved all leading Asian countries.


Fifteen-year old Senura Silva from Ananda College is the current number one ranked player while Ginige from Sri Jayewardenepura University is also an experienced player along with Milinda Lakshitha, Nimesh Ranchagoda and Imantha Udanjaya. Meanwhile, Madurangi is the most experienced player in the Women’s Team along with promising players Bimandi Bandara, Muthumali Priyadharshani and Thanushi Rodrigo.


Former Dharmasoka College paddler Chathura Dushan will accompany the team as coach while Ravindra Jeewantha has been named as the Physiotherapist for this tour.
