HNB emerge national netball champions for fifth consecutive year

Hatton National Bank (HNB), who have been the leading team in inter-club netball for many years, emerged champions of the 2023 Dialog Netball Nationals for the fifth consecutive time.
Conducted by the Sri Lanka Netball Federation (SLNF), 35 teams participated in this tournament which ended yesterday at Colombo Torrington Grounds.

Although the spectators expected a close match in the finals from the Sri Lanka Air Force team which had many national level players, HNB dominated the match winning 45-28.
HNB were well ahead in the first three quarters, outscoring their opponents 17-9, 11-2 and 9-8, and even though Air Force players managed to lead the final quarter by 1 point, 9-8, HNB still managed to win this year’s Dialog Nationals by a 17-point margin.

HNB also swept the board winning all four Netball Nationals Special Awards this time. Sri Lanka captain Gayani Dissanayaka became the 2023 Netball Queen.

Sri Lanka Navy won the third place in the tournament.Special Awards:
