Harin appoints new National Sports Council

Minister of Sports Harin Fernando yesterday appointed a 15-member National Sports Council (NSC), replacing its former Chairman Arjuna Ranatunga with Dr. Maiya Gunasekara.   

The members of the new National Sports Council are Dr. Maiya Gunasekara – Chairman, I. U. Wickramasuriya – Secretary, Sriyani Kulawansa, Major General (Ret) Rajitha Ampemohotti, Prof. Arjuna de Silva, Panduka Keerthinanda, Ana Punchihewa, Malik Cader, Dr. S. V. D. Nanayakkara, Hafeez Marso, Sidath Wettimuny, General (Retired) Jagath Jayasuriya, Anuradha Illeperuma, Prof. Shemal Fernando and Kamal Deshapriya.   

Meanwhile, the Sports Minister has also appointed the National Sports Selection Committee. The committee comprises of General Shavendra Silva – Chairman, Arjun Fernando – Secretary, Dr. Maiya Gunasekara, Suresh Subramaniam and Nalinda Ilangakoon.
