Hesanya shines at Schools Taekwondo Meet

 Hesanya Welikala of Dharmapala MV, Pannipitiya was selected as the Best Player in the Under-20 category at the All-Island Schools Taekwondo Championships 2023 held at the Ananda College Indoor Stadium in Colombo.  

Hesanya was selected as the Best Player for her performance in the Under-20 age group 53-57kg weight class out of more than 100 competitors.   

Hesanya is one of the rising stars having won several Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals at national and inter-school taekwondo championships.   

In addition to her success in local meets, she was able to win the Silver Medal in the Senior Women’s category at the inaugural South Asian International Taekwondo Championships in Colombo and won the Bronze Medal at the inaugural Asian International Open Championships.  

Hesanya has also won the All-Island School Games taekwondo nationals and the Korean Ambassador Cup. (SP)
