Huawei joins hands with MCA and Sports Intel to propel digital development of cricket

As part of its collaboration with the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) and analytics and performance management solutions provider Sports Intel, Huawei Sri Lanka recently presented Huawei Tabs to the MCA to score their matches.

The devices will be used by the Scorers Association of Sri Lanka to score MCA games on the CricHQ scoring platform. Sports Intel is the exclusive partner in Sri Lanka for CricHQ and My Action Sports New Zealand.

The digital platform allows for tournament management, maintenance of player profiles, and collection of detailed statistics in addition to scoring games live. It also has the ability to give live feeds of matches to websites and Facebook accounts.

Through the partnership, Sports Intel intends to propel the digital development of cricket in the island by leveraging big data and cloud computing, with administrators gaining easy access to rich player analytics, making it convenient to track performance and make decisions.

Director and CEO of Sports Intel, Channa Fernando said, “A couple of years back, the New Zealand Trade consulate in Mumbai had asked Roshan Mahanama to represent CricHQ in Sri Lanka. With his strong involvement with the ICC, he had understood the value of digitization of cricket and how it can help cricket in Sri Lanka, and having seen the solutions of CricHQ and My Action Sports, he had no doubt that this was a great product to bring to Sri Lanka and established Sports Intel to drive this.”

“We are very happy to be engaged with the MCA as its Official Tournament Management partners. We are also talking to State Services Cricket Association to explore how they can use our platforms to manage and run the State Services cricket tournaments. The leadership of the Scorers Association will tell you that our platform has some great features that not many others have, such as the automatic calculation of the Duckworth Lewis method,” he further mentioned.
