ITF World Junior J60 Tennis Tourney: Sri Lankans bow out of contention

Sri Lankan players in both Girls’ and Boys’ categories bowed out of contention following defeats in the ITF World Junior J60 Tennis Tournament continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path, Colombo yesterday.

Dinara de Silva, who qualified for the Girls’ quarter-finals lost to Prisha Shinde of India 0-2 while in the Boys’ category Lithhum Jayabandu and Ganuka Fernando also suffered defeats against Tavish Pahwa of India and Rishi Batlanki of the USA. 

Results: Girls’ Singles (quarter-finals): Prisha Shinde (India) beat Dinara de Silva (Sri Lanka) 7-6(4).

Boys’ Singles (second round): Tavish Pahwa (India) beat Lithum Jayabandu (Sri Lanka) 6-2, 6-1. Rishi Batlanki (USA) beat Ganuka Fernando (Sri Lanka) 6-0, 6-4. Jian Huang (China) beat Juliusz Stanczyk (Poland) 7-5, 6-3. Phopthum Sriwong (Thailand) beat Kuan Hsien Yu (Chinese Taipei) 7-5, 6-2. Miguel Iglupas (Philippines) beat Daksh Kukreti (India) 6-4, 6-1. Ryu Kotikula (Thailand) beat Tzu-Yuan Tseng (Chinese Taipei) 6-4, 6-1. Tong Liu (China) beat Louis Knese (Germany) 6-1, 6-2.
