Innings win for Trinity

Trinity College made it two in a row when they beat Nalanda College by an innings and 2 runs in their 2nd Mahela-Sanga Challenge Trophy Under 19 cricket encounter which concluded at the Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy on Tuesday (21). 

The game was over even before the tea break on day two.

Nalanda who were shot out for 82 in their first innings made a valiant effort but could only manage slightly better with 130 in their second innings. 

On the first day, 21 wickets fell in dramatic fashion and it took Trinity slightly less than two session to remove the the remaining nine Nalanda wickets.

Only two Nalanda batsmen were able to get on top of the Trinity bowlers. Mahima Weerakoon (37) and Ranidu Silva (36) supported the Colombo school with their batting but they did not last long. 

Trinity skipper and fast bowler Ruvin Peiris was unplayable as he took seven wickets in the match with ample support coming by way of spinner Abishek Anandakumar who took 8 wickets. 

Uvindu Wimaladharma, the other Trinity spinner, too chipped in with three wickets in the latter innings.
