Inter-International Schools U19 Cricket Gateway College qualify for semi-finals

Gateway College Colombo beat Lyceum International School Panadura to qualify for the semi-final of the Inter-International Schools Under 19 cricket tournament.   
Lyceum Panadura opted to bat first and scored 102 with Akmal Fazly top scoring with 40 runs.   


Dulain Perera took 3 for 12 for Gateway with Janindu Nandasena taking 2 for 22 runs and Govin Vinwath returning figures of 2 for 17.

   
Gateway’s top order batters made light work of the target, reaching the score in 13 overs on the back of unbeaten knocks from Kavindu Warnukulasuriya (46*) and Ahamanullah Aman (44*).  


Earlier, Gateway beat Colombo International School (CIS) and Horizon College International on route to the semis.   

 

 

Gateway scored an imposing 242 for 2 against CIS, with Kavindu Warnukulasuriya making 106, with a significant contribution coming from Janindu Nandasena who scored 90.   
Gateway’s bowlers produced a just as impressive performance with the ball, restricting CIS to 170 for 5. Manith Panagoda scored 79 and Amar Cassim 25 for CIS, with Janindu Nandasena completing an all-round performance with figures of 2 for 16.   


Against Horizon College, Gateway scored 147 in 20 overs, with captain Dulain Perera contributing 53, and Ahamanullah Aman scoring 44.   
Thisan Nirmala and Akith Janudika were the pick of the bowlers for Horizon College with bowling figures of 2/29 and 2/18 respectively.   


Horizon managed just 104 runs in 20 overs. Sanu Abeyratne top scored with 25 and Govin Vinvath took 2 wickets for 10 runs.
