International Wheel Chair Tennis Dharmasena and Dissanayake qualify for quarters

Sri Lanka’s D.S.R. Dharmasena in action

Sri Lanka’s pair D.S.R. Dharmasena and Gamini Dissanayake qualified to the singles quarter-finals of the International Wheel Chair tennis tournament when they coasted to comfortable two sets to nil win in the pre-quarter final encounters played at SLTA tennis course in Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.


Dharmasena overcame E.L.S. Leon of South Africa while Dissanayake got the better of compatriot Nilantha Kumara. 


The tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association is being contested by seven countries namely Korea, South Africa, China, India, France, Brazil and host Sri Lanka. 


The quarter finals are scheduled be played today

D.S.R. Dharmasena (Sri Lanka) beat E.L.S. Leon (South Africa) 2-0 (6/2 6/2); Gamini Dissanayake (Sri Lanka) beat Nilantha Kumara (Sri Lanka) 2-0 (6/0, 6/0); Sang Ho Oh (Korea) beat David Dalmasso (France) 2-0 (6/2, 6/3); Sung-bong Han (Korea) beat Joroelino Ferreira Lima (Brazil) 2-0 (6/2, 6/0).
