Jaffna Kings record first win

Jaffna Kings recorded their first win of the Lanka Premier League T20 cricket tournament with a convincing eight win over Dambulla Giants in the first match of the third day’s proceedings played at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

The Jaffna Kings win came on the back of two valuable partnerships with the first being a 63 runs for the second wicket between Avishka Fernando and Tom Kohler-Cadmore who followed it up associating in an unbroken 38 runs for the third wicket with Shoaib Malik which helped Jaffna Kings in pursuit of 111 runs to reach the target in the 13th over.

Earlier Dambulla Giants skipper Dasun Shanaka winning the toss and electing to take first lease of the wicket saw right arm spin and fast medium Maheesh Theekshana and Suarnga Lakmal putting them in deep trouble as they struggled for their runs and was badly placed on 58 for 5 in the 10th over.

Later man in form Wanindu Hasaranga and Jayden Seales combined to further put the Jaffna Kings batsmen in a spot of bother as the duo shared five wickets between to bowl them 0out for a score of 110 runs. Hasaranga and Theekshana shared six wickets while Lakmal and Seales had two each.
