Former Sri Lanka Olympian Thilaka Jinadasa has been re-appointed as the Consultant of the Brunei National Netball Team by the Brunei Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Jinadasa was handed a two-year contract while targeting the Asian Netball Championship 2024 from September 26 to October 6 in Saudi Arabia and the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games Tournament 2025.
Jinadasa was the Coach of the Sri Lanka Netball Team that won the Asian Netball Championship in 2009 and 2018 after having served as the Consultant of the Brunei National Netball Team for seven years from 2011 to 2018.
Her last assignment with the Sri Lanka Netball Team was when she coached the side for the Netball World Cup in 2019 and 2022.
Brunei are currently placed sixth in the Asian Netball Rankings.
“Yes, I am currently living in Brunei, and I have signed a contract for two years for now and I started work here from April 1 as the Consultant of the National Netball Team”, Jinadasa told the Daily Mirror yesterday.
“My task is to train the Brunei national netballers for the Asian Netball Championship 2024 and the SEA Games 2025. Those are my prime objectives and apart from that must educate the coaches here and build up and identify potential players,’ she added.
Jinadasa served as the Head of Sports at Gateway College, prior to her assignment in Brunei.
