Kamal Pushpakumara at the helm of SLHF

SSP Dehiwala/Mount Lavinia Kamal Pushpakumara was unanimously elected President of the Sri Lanka Hockey Federation (SLHF) at the Annual General Meeting held at the Duncan White Auditorium in Colombo.
Director General of the Ministry of Sports Amal Edirisooriya confirmed Pushpakumara’s appointment after the rival group headed by Matale District MP Rohana Dissanayake withdrew all their nominations in protest.
The SLHF has been non-functional for the past two years and not a single tournament including the national championship was conducted during this period.


Pushpakumara is a reputed sportsman having represented Police SC in cricket and in hockey.


Meanwhile, the four Vice-President posts were filled by D. S. Wijesinghe, R. Maheshwaran, W. M. P. Fernando and G. D. Mathiyalagan while P. Vishvanathan was elected Secretary.


B. M. T. D. Basnayake was elected Assistant Secretary while K. Jeyaranam was elected as Treasurer. G. S. Kapukotuwa was elected Assistant Secretary.
