The Kandy District snooker tournament, concluded at the Pyramid Snooker Parlour, saw P.M.T.D. Puwakgolla of Pyramid Snooker Parlour clinched the title with a comfortable four-frames-to-one win over clubmate M. Mashood in the seven-frames final.

This is one of the six qualifying tournaments to be played, with all semi-finalists going on to contest in the All Island Lanka Plate snooker tournament, scheduled to get underway in two weeks.

The district tournaments are being held in six districts, namely Colombo, Kandy, Kegalle, Galle, Nuwara Eliya, and Ratnapura, one of the two qualifying events to select players for the upcoming 70th National Snooker Championship, set to be held next month.

In the quarter and semi-final encounters, Puwakgolla defeated M.H. Imran and M.M.M. Fawzan, while Mashood overcame G. Khalid and M.F.M. Dhanish.

The Nuwara Eliya district tournament is in progress, with the remaining three district tournaments scheduled for next week. The All Island Lanka Plate snooker tournament will begin after the completion of the district tournaments.
This will be followed by the 70th National Snooker Tournament, sponsored by Sumathi Holdings (Pvt) Ltd., and played for the Late U.W. Sumathipala Memorial Trophy, contested by the top 32 snooker players in the island.
