Defending champions Kandy Sports Club put a full stop to the unbeaten record of Havelock Sports Club when they beat them by 31 points (four tries, four conversions and one penalty) to 21 points (three tries and three conversions) in their Inter-Club League Rugby Tournament fixture played at the Nittawela Stadium in Kandy yesterday (16).
Kandy SC led 21-7 at the breather.
Kandy SC drew first blood in the eighth minute when number eight Buwaneka Udangamuwa powered his way through for a try.
Full back Thilina Wijesinghe added the extra points to take an early lead.
It took another five minutes for Buwaneka to go over for his second try of the game.
Thilina added the extras.
Kandy SC, who attacked through their fast paced three quarter line touched down once again through Anurudha Wilwara.
Thilina added the extras to take the score to 21-0.
It took 28 minutes for the Park Club to score their first points through Sithum Peiris. Reza Mubarak added the extras.
After the turnaround Kandy SC touched down through Buwaneka who completed a hat-trick of tries while Thilina put over a penalty.
Meanwhile, the Havies scored their tries through Dushmantha Priyadharshana and Dinuk Amarasinghe. Both tries were converted by Mubarak.
