Karunaratne to attend World Cycling Conference

President of the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) N. Karunaratne left for Belgium yesterday to attend the Congress and Elections of the Union Cycliste International, which will be held on September 24.


Karunaratna will act as the Head of the delegation representing the Asian Cycling Federation, in addition to his role as President of the CFSL voting for the Congress


From 44 Asian Countries with the UCI, the Asian region receives nine voting rights at the UCI Congress.
Sri Lanka received the highest recognition and support from the 44 Asian Countries at the elections of the Asian Cycling Federation (ACC) held recently to select its nine representatives by which the President of the CFSL topped the elections by obtaining the highest number of votes polled out of the 21-member countries who submitted their nominations.


At the Asian Cycling Federation elections 35 counties cast their votes to select their voting delegates, of which 94.2% (33) member counties voted for Karunaratna.


The rest of the members of the delegation are from Singapore, Thailand, China, South Korea, Iran, Kazakhstan and Malaysia.
