Kavinda to Coach Antonians at cricket

Former Trinity College cricketer and Nuwara Eliya District Coach Kavinda Jayasuriya will be the Head Coach of St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota, with effect from today.

Kavinda, who played for Trinity as an all-rounder, is a level 2 qualified coach. He handled Trinity for seven long years, winning many trophies for Trinity during his stint with his alma mater. Kavinda played for Trinity College for four years and also represented the Kandy District U-17 and U-19 teams and the Central Province U-17 and U-19 teams.

He also played club cricket in England and at Kandy CC and Kandy Youth.

He has coached at D.S. Senanayake College, Old Trinitians SC, and Trinity for seven years. Trinity became the best team in the all-island tournaments in 2016 and 2020, league runners-up in 2018, and one-day runner-up in 2016. He has produced many national players, one of them in recent years being Matheesha Pathirana. (Shamserr Jaleel)
