Koralage sets new mark at John Tarbat Meet

Ashmika Koralage of Yoshida Shokanji International School set a new meet record on the opening day of the 90th Sir John Tarbat Inter-Schools Senior Athletic Championship, which began at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Complex in Diyagama yesterday.

Koralage produced an outstanding effort of 15.64 metres in the Boys’ Under-20 triple jump event and went on to erase the previous best of 15.57m held by L. P. G. Dananjaya of St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa in 2015. 

The meet is conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Athletics Association (SLSAA) after a lapse of two years and will conclude on September 16.

Meanwhile, K. V. M. Yasiru (15.61m) of Kahawatta Central College secured the second place while Y. Kumara of Lyceum, Wattala took the third place.
